Hello all,

I bought a 1981 Fender Pro Reverb silverface with master volume a couple of months ago. The black tolex was replaced with tweed by the previous owner, and the silver grill cloth with brown grill cloth. I think that looks cool, but the previous owner also removed all the lettering from the faceplate, so the faceplate is just an empty (!) steel plate. I've learned which knob is for what, but it's still inconvenient when playing live. He also replaced the black skirted knobs with cream colored chickenheads.

Here's a picture of the current state of this amp: http://i.imgur.com/1XpfA.jpg

I already got replacement black skirted knobs, because I like those better, but I don't have a solution for the faceplate problem yet. I'm trying to find out if someone could somehow 'reprint' this faceplate or if I could get a replacement faceplate somehow. I have found faceplates for Pro Reverbs without mid/master controls, but they obviously won't fit.

Another option might be to use a silverface Twin Reverb with master volume faceplate, because I believe they use the same measurements for the faceplate. Can anyone confirm this? I'd rather have a faceplate that says Pro Reverb though, because that's what it is.

If anyone has any ideas for me, I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

You have two options -- either commission a sign or trophy shop to have the original faceplate silk-screened again, in which case you'll likely be required to prepare your own print-ready artwork. The other choice is to use a late-model Twin Reverb or Dual Showman Reverb faceplate (an equivalent-era Super Reverb panel may also fit). These occasionally turn up on Ebay.

These plates are aluminum BTW.

Silverface Twin Reverb plates with mid and master volume seem not too hard to get. I might get one of those if all else fails.

I think Larry got out of the faceplate business a couple of years ago.

Thanks Arjay. That's a bummer, he did some great work for me in the past. Any way Breun, you can probably find what you need. Just thought I could help. Art

Thanks for the heads up, Arjay, but with shipping to Europe that's probably going to cost me more than an unscratched silverface Twin Reverb faceplate with master volume that I can buy over here. (Although I prefer the Super Reverb over the Twin Reverb.) If I'd buy this plate, I'd have to do it for the 'vintage' look of it. But thanks anyway, I'll consider it.

I was also offered an old silverface Twin Reverb faceplate with master volume for a lower price, but I could hardly read the labels because of how scratched it was, so I passed on that one for now.

I cannot say with certainty that a TR faceplate will fit your Pro Reverb. But I know for a fact that your chassis is the same width and shares the same hole spacing as the Super Reverb from which this part was removed.

Maybe a repro BF Pro Reverb faceplate might look nice with the tweed... If the holes lineup?

How many blackface Pro Reverbs have a 12-knob chassis?

Take a good look at the O/P's photo......it's a 70-watt ultra-linear amp.

Yeah, those blackface faceplates are pretty easy to get, but they have a too few holes. No mid and master volume controls on those plates. This amp really needs a silverface plate with master volume.

I asked for a shipping estimate for that plate on eBay and it's going to be about $41 just for shipping that plate to Europe, because of the size...

Can anyone tell me if a silverface Twin Reverb faceplate with master volume will fit a silverface Pro Reverb with master volume?

The plate for this silverface Pro Reverb is 62,1 cm x 4,8 cm x 1 mm.
