Ok, so I bought a 1965 Fender Bassman HEad and Cab combo a few years back. I was told it was all original, but I am begining to wonder about this cab:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/75185999@N05/

Can anyone give me any insight on whether this cab is real or a replica someone made?

The only thing it says inside is "1753" in whats looks like to be a sharpie! haha.

Also, It looks like there used to be a handle on the side that is not there anymore!

Any ideas would be great!!!

That is NOT a genuine Fender Cabinet. The mounting rings were never done like that and never that crudely done. The front of the cabinet is flat edged, unlike any 2x12 cabinet I have ever seen. The logo is also from the wrong era for a 65 Bassman, it should be the underlined logo, and not the one with the trademark R on it.

Sorry, but not even close to original. Hope you didn't pay authentic prices for it!

+1

As phony as a seven-dollar bill!

The cab's proportions *suggest* it may have been cloned from a Sunn 200S enclosure. Those dimensions would be 24"W x 42"H x 14"D. However, any 2 x 15 Sunn bass cab would have a more elaborate porting and baffling system than the one depicted in the photos.
