But, I'd say half of the ppl that get these modded amps SWEAR the amp sounds much better with the switch in one postion versus the other.

Same folks who blissfully drop a C-note for Monster speaker cables.

Beemer, I think Chris wants to bypass the courtesy outlet and polarity switch. Art

That was my impression as well.

But if the amp's a late silverface with a 3-conductor convenience outlet, I generally leave those connected -- they can be useful for powering up a pedal board.

Right Arjay, but his is the '67 model, if I'm not mistaken. We do get caught up in a bunch of amps, here. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the White(neutral)straight to the PT trans and the Black to the fuse, and on through the on-off switch, is the deal. JMO Art

Sorry guys I have talked about a ship load of amps lately
This one is a 1966 blackface Bassman that I'm about to do surgery on.

This process allways sounds overly involved, but hey remember how tough I thought the cap job was gonna be on the 67 bassman ? and it and I survived !

OK I picked up my cord
9 ft 16 gauge 13 amp
Multi strand

Grey in color (no black with the right specs).

Gonna try and figure this out tonight, i will keep the plug in in the back so I have some good contact points for the wiring.

That's a good approach, man. They're basically just used as terminals! I've done that job both ways, with solid results. Art

Another fine Bassman thread that deserves a second look
And since I'm tackling yet another of my all time favorite amps I thought I would resurrect this one too
Lots of good info here !
