It was part of a bigger collection I acquiered, and so i hope to sell off other parts of the collection and keep this for myself.

Now with all of the contreversy over Caps It will take a lot of digging to find replacements for this one.
Not that it needs them right now, its quiet as any I've ever owned.

Again I must say this has been the very best year for Vintage music finds for me, hope your all getting shots at the goodies too !!!!

This one has the original two prong power cord, seems as if one of you guys had a drawing of how to swap out for a three prong grounded and bypass the switch (polarity).

I know I need to do this much and fast before i get zapped.

and should I solder the green ground to the chassis or use a sheet metal screw and a loop end on the wire ???

You can solder or crimp a terminal lug to the ground wire and attach it to one of the power tranny screws OR you can solder the ground directly to the chassis. I generally prefer the former method. Make sure your new power cord is multi-strand three-conductor AWG 16.

Here you go, Chris. http:www.unclespot.com/3prongconversion.JPG You can bypass the ground switch by runnunig the black AC line straight to the fuse. I use 16ga power tool lines for this application, just a stouter plug....etc. How the heck do you get the website in red and able to be clicked on? Art

So, What if I want to bypass both the outlet and the polarity switch ?

I think that is what i want to happen, bypass two potential problems and go right to the fuse, where do i connect the two transformer wires ???

Maximum safety and noise reduction too !!! (not that it has a noise issue)

And where are we buying filter caps from given the controversy over caps with incorrect ratings, fake labels etc...... ???

Blues, I've never heard of that outlet causing problems. Unless it is physically damaged. But then again, I hardly ever use it... As most of my Fender amps have a two-prong in that position. I keep it two-prong for historical sake.

Bypassing the polarity switch and eliminating the "death cap" is a must. You know what I do? I pull the original OEM polarity switch. Clean it and keep it. And put in a new MIM Carling (just for historical sake-- as it's just a dummy switch). Those old switches are really so much better made than new OS (off-shore) ones. You should see the guts of some Chinese-made swtiches...

You wanna hear something funny? I bypass ALL polarity switches. But, I'd say half of the ppl that get these modded amps SWEAR the amp sounds much better with the switch in one postion versus the other. Perfect "placebo effect."

Good luck with that amp. Guess you maybe looking for a good vintage Fender Rever Unit?

Chris, the white wire from the new cable is joined to one transformer wire( solder joint and and a wire nut will do it). The other trans wire is connected to the on-off switch. Art

Art, Yeah Black wire (HOT) of the three-conductor AC outlet wire goes to the fuse. White (NEUTRAL) from other tang on switch to PT.

Keep the green (GROUND) as short as possible. I ground it to a SEPARATE point on the chassis, from any other circuit grounds.

In photo, you see ground point. The white and black are hard to follow, but are hooked to power switch & fuse, respectively, by OEM yellow-brown, single-stranded push-back wiring running along edge of the back of the chassis.
