More than i should have paid , however it does sound very good !!!

I get V-4 and the power tubes

My question is about V-1 is it only for the "bass channel" ?

can someone give me a run down on the first three preamp tubes and their use ?
Thanks Guys

P.S. the amp is looking for 4 ohms Right ?

At least as far as I can see in the bit of research I've done.
so I have two 8 ohm cabs, putting one in the regular output and one in the external cab out put should yield 4 ohms ? assuming they are parallel.

Much less headroom than I thought it would have by the way.

Counting the tubes from right to left.

V1 is for the "Bass" inputs
V2 is gain stage for both channels (only half of the tube is used)
V3 is for the "Normal" inputs

Edit:
Yes, looks like 4 ohms, two 8's in parallel.

Yep, Shimmy has it right. I have a revamped(read: Art decided he knew more than the designer,DOH !) AB165 2X10 conversion, myself. The speaker out-puts are indeed parallel. This amp, in stock form, has local and global negative feedback circuits, plus an extra filter cap to keep the Bass instrument clean. If you find objectional distortion, the first place I'd look would be the pre-amp tubes. After that, the caps and resistors in the offending channel, and of course the power supply. Nice amp, Blues ! Yeah man, V3 is the first two stages for the normal channel. Following that is V2, then the phase inverter. Art

After reviewing the AB165 schem (it's been a while since I've worked on a Bassman), Shimmilou is correct. This numbering anomaly seems to be a carry-over from the old 6G6-A brownface days.

Blues, these guys have nice big 50watt trannies, made for a very clean tone. Mine was too clean for my use. But hey, its all good ! Good to see Arjay chime in ! IMHO These are very substantial amps, and if you're pleased with the tone.... then YEAH ! Art

So thankful I had Arjay's home e-mail

Even more happy to see him back here posting !!!!

Thank you my friend for helping along the way.

Not a big drinker, But I'm gonna crack open a cold one and celebrate (tomorrow)

Just got home from jail and its snowing its butt off again.

This Amp is freaky Amazing, I was sure any amp i owned had to be tube rectified to sound and feel right, guess I was WRONG !!!!

Dang this is fun !

Pulled the chassis this morning
found one bad Cap (see picture)
crazy enough, it just left a "tech" who pronounced it as in excellent condition.
oh well, right now it is making little if any hum and thats with my comp cranked up.

The gang !
Don't laugh at my crate, its a VC5212T that came with factory original 6L6GC's
One channel, reverb and Tremolo.
Looks like a pair of USA 12" Eminence in the back and sounds pretty darn good for what it is. (pawn Shop speacial under 250 including tax) so Ha to all the crate haters.
