Anyone ever restore of these? And how does it compare to a Leslie unit out of a Hammond Organ?

Much Thanks!

I had one of those back in the '60's! Played organ through it with a Pro Reverb driving it. I blew the little 10" speaker right away, but put in a 12" JBL. Anyways - the inside are just like the built-in Leslie speakers you'd find in smaller spinet home organs (not the bigger stand alone Leslies).

The rythm guitarist in our band in the late 70's had one of those and yep he replaced the blown original speaker with a JBL too! That thing used to give him a great swirl to his sound...he left it on almost all the time...sounded great, but can't say I ever had a chance to a/b one with a Leslie.

Would make a fine addition to any collection.

FWIW

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on this one. A friend of a friend thing. Two owners. Only used on Sunday's by a little old lady. At a progressive church. Or somthing like that. :)

Thanks, for the responses!

It did sure look clean, and these were much better built that the Hammond Organ Types since they were built to be on the road....Be sure to keep us posted...and of course if you pull the trigger lots of pics!

Yep Beemer, had one on the bench some years ago. Almost bought it from the owner, liked it that much. I was playing with a B3 fanatic(with the Lesilie) at the time, and that Vibratone was just a fantastic piece to use with him. If I remember correctly, all I had to do was lube the baffle, replace the belt, R&R one tube, and do the basic clean-up maintenance. Actually, now that I think about it, the first one I had in was a 10" and this one was a 12". Man, it's been 15 years, so the memory banks are foggy. But Yeah, it would be a great addition to your collection ! The thing about these guys, is that they don't seem to get that much use. So it's not an electronic burn-out situation, but rather a mechanical wasting situation.(if that makes sense) Art
