Good Morning Fender Amp Fans...yep found an unbelievable deal this past weekend at that place we all like to throw bad stories around about (GC)...well not every GC is a bad one. I rolled into one on Friday night and bought a BFSR for the small sum of $999. You would figure it to be a basket case for that kind of coin but as the pictures listed below show, with the exception of two replaced speakers, this bad boy is 100% original. Even the two prong cord is still there! And the best part is the tone...it has that famous BFSR Tone! I will need to get a cap job done on it, and the search is on for those two period correct CTS ceramic speakers...but I am as giddy as a school girl about this one! So after a bit of clean up...with no further adeau...

Clean up complete at the work bench...

And finally resting with its Fender Bretheren...

TBZ...you are a funny man! Nope, not trying to catch him, but I have been channeling the dude lately :!: :!:   In fact you will appreciate this, since scoring this and the redo I did on the Bantam Bass Amp, he awarded me my Fender Amp 7 Level!

That is a great pickup! Those Blue Molded caps are worth their weight in gold. IMHO. YOu really can't find any modern made cap with the tonal response of these puppies.

Good luck with recapping & restoring the amp. A great addition to your family!

Yeah T2, that is a gem. And Beemer is right on, about those tone caps. If they're close at all to spec, don't mess with them ! Love the power tubes. Art

Beemer and Art...yeah I don't plan on changing anything that is close to spec, only what I must change...the GZ34 is a made in Great Britain Amperex! All in all a great find, I feel very fortunate to get it and look forward to a long relationship with it!

Guys, I consider myself very lucky to have two great Fenders and another old gem ! Remember, quite well, playing through Saint George or Silvertone amps. All the time wishing I could have a Fender, like the band at the "sock-hop". It's pretty amazing ! Art

Definitely a great price and in great condition! My local GC has one that's in pretty natty physical condition, all original for $1499! :( I might consider one for less than 1K!

Burnetteguitars...yeah, I am lucky. We have two GC in the local area...one on my side of the Mississippi...and one across the river. The one across the river seems to be the better one and willing to deal. The GC on this side of the river, has a not quite as clean '65 BFSR (with wheels) and with all four of the original ceramic CTS speakers and they want $2200 and won't budge on that price even a dollar! Just goes to show ya, some GC's value thier customers and some don't.

FWIW
