I purchased a new Fender Twin in 1974 (master volume model with jbl d120's), which was a fine sounding amp. Sold it in 1981.

Have been looking for a twin from that era recently. It appears that Fender made several variations of the amp during the years 1971-1976?

Can anyone help to clarify the different models/ features/ etc?

Thanks,

Jack

I've found that master and non-master models were made during this period, different trannies/circuits used, etc

I'm looking for someone who may know the details here?

Thanks

JR

I had a 76 with a master volume pull boost. From around 1968-77 they were 100 watts. Then they went with the Ultra Linear stuff and pushed the wattage up to 135. You could get them with stock I believe they were Utah and JBL's. The Twin platform came in different variations. The had the Super Six and Quad Reverb amps too. Same 100 watt Twin. They were huge. I think the boost was added around 76. I hated it and always left it off. With it off the amp sounded great.

I always left MV and boost alone with the MV on 10 at all times.
I found the 135 watt Twins to be brittle sounding.

I liked my 76 but sold it a couple of years ago because it was too loud and heavy for what I do now. I still regret it. I was one of the most reliable amps I've ever owned and played countless gigs including large venues and festivals.

Ebay is your best bet for finding a SF panel for a TR. Keep in mind that the panel from a similar-vintage Dual Showman Reverb, Quad Reverb, Super Six Reverb, or Vibrosonic Reverb will also fit your chassis.
