I purchased what is suppose to be a Twin Reverb from the 70's. It's a silver face. I'm not sure what year. It has a master volume on it. There is a number stamped in the back of the amp on the metal on the right side it says A 82606. Does anyone know if that's the serial number and what year it is????

Also, one speaker is a Celestion Classic Lead 80. And the other has no markings on it. Should I put in a matching Celestion to match the other one or is there some other type speakers that are better for a Twin Reverb Amp? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I have it as 1975: A81000 to A99999 - 1975. Have any photos? You don't need to match speaker models, makes, or years made. Just maintain proper impedance and power capacity (if possible). Speaker with lowest power handling will determine the overall power handling. And the impedance follows usual parallel or series networks:

Thanks BMW2002. Here are a couple of pics. I'm not too sure about the unmarked speaker. Dont know what it is. What are the best sounding speakers for one of these amps?

Speakers are so owner dependent. You like the tone of the Classic Lead Celestion? Maybe, another one? I have one suggestion. Get a cover for those electrolytic caps. Measure the breadboard to find the corrct size. They are available at AES.

Check under "Amp logos, Covers, & Feet" Cap cover part # P-H710

I agree. It doesn't look like there's a matched quad of 6l6 power tubes in there. I'd get a matched quad and let a tech bias it and give it the once over. It may also be due for a cap job too if it didn't have one already. Like BMW said get a cover for those caps. They should be in a dog house. The speakers would be the least of my concerns. As long as the load is correct and it sounds decent that's all that counts as far as the speakers go.
