Hi All, :D
Has anyone every seen a 12 string solid body Fender? I had one back in the 70s. It was 66(?) cherry sunburst with Schaller machine heads on it. I replaced the machine heads from the Klusans so it could be tuned and playable, and the only near replacement machine head at the time was the Schaller minis. It had a headstock that curved downwards.
Any one knows of this, drop me line or two.

Thanks,

Ev0.. :D

Sure Evo, I remember those 12 strings. The Electric XII, with that hockey stick headstock. Fender was really up against tough competition in the mid 60's, with the Rickenbacker 360's. Guess, Fender reissued the XII in a Strat type of foremat. BTW you might want to check over at the Strat forum for better info. Those guys know every which way about axes. Art

Hey Art you have a great memory. Yeah it was the Electric 12 in around 1965. Kind of reminded me of the Jazzmaster/Jaguar style with two split pickups. It had the "hockey stick" headstock. There was a Custom Six string with the same headstock. If I remember correctly, the bridge was adjustable for both height and intonation, something the Ricks didn't have at the time.

There was a Strat 12 string a little ways back too.

From my 50 Years of Fender I also recalled the 12-string Coronado Wildwood, which literally went right after the Rickenbackers. Very un-Fender.

Found this photo on Goggle Images. What a fretboard! Looks more like a boat paddle.

Seems there was also a hollow-body version.

Check gbase.com from time to time. Its a good starting point. Plus you can find the vintage dealers near you, thus keeping an eye for one.

Yep Phansford, that's the Coronado I referenced, with the "wildwood" effect from injecting dye directly into the trees as they were growing.

Never played either of those guitars. Couldn't get by the headstock. Besides, where I grew up the Byrds were rocking the Whiskey, on the strip. And Jim( that' what he went by then)McGuinn was just soaring in the roost with the Ricky and a Twin Reverb. Yeah, those were the days. Art
