What is the correct output load for the 61-64 Bandmaster piggyback amps? I always thought they were 4 or 8 ohm but I've seen some advertised with 16 ohm cabinets; does this mean the output transformer has been replaced or are the outputs switachable like the SuperSonic? I'm getting ready to take the big money plunge on a vintage piggyback and don't want any "upgrades!" I've not had the pleasure of seeing one up close and personal.

(Were any of those piggybacks 16 ohm? Has anyone played one through a 4x12 SuperSonic cabinet? )

Thanks,
sji

8 ohms in 61, 4 ohms after.

In general, Fender amps are more tolerant of an impedance mismatch than others - a Bandmaster driving an 8 ohm cabinet, for instance.

Thanks for the reply. I took the plunge and have been playing the '61 bandmaster through the D131F (16ohm Lansing) that came in the matching tone ring cab with no trouble whatsoever!

Any tube amp can handle a 100 percent mismatch, although the preference is usually to go for the low mismatch.

This handy device might be nice to have too :
