Speaker arrived in the mail today. Got the baffle cut to size for the cabinet and the furring stips cut...
Image
Speaker placement figured out...3 3/4 inches from each side, 2 inches from the bottom. This will ensure clearance from OT.
Image
Everything all double checked and a quick call to Arjay to ensure I have missed nothing...
Image
tomorrow will be my test cut on my practice baffle for that all important 13 1/2 circular cut...keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks Reb. Well I made my cut, all went well. I mounted the speaker, test fitted the cab with the chassis, speaker baffle and speaker. Plenty of clearance for the tubes and OT. I glued the furring strips and corner piece for the Fender logo to the baffle so it is ready as soon as the glue dries.

If it is nice this weekend (supposed to be) I will get the baffle painted on Friday, Re-attach the grill cloth and do one more test fit...then all should be ready for re-assembly on Sunday since no Football to watch.

I will do the last batch of pics along the way on the re-assemble, and of course the after pics and maybe put it along side the "Before". This has been a fun project, and certainly won't be my last. I learned alot along the way about how Fender built its amps back in the day.

The Bada$$ Bantam Bass is complete! This thing with the 65 Jensen 15 inch concert speaker sounds amazing on BOTH channels. I didn't expect this, but the Bass Channel does sound pretty close to the BF Bassman...nice snap and tone to the bone...sounded great with my 60's Classic Strat. The second channel also sound great, a bit midrange honk to it. Now I just to need to go find a nice reissue reverb unit to go with it!

And here are the pics.

This was a great second project...and I couldn't have done it without Arjay...can't thank him enough for all the advice and how too's! This turned out great and now I have another very gigable (and not too heavy!) amp with some great sounds. I would certainly recommend anyone looking for a nice sounding amp to check out the Bantam...just remember to dump that Yamaha speaker!

BMW...yes it does. I am not sure I could tell the diffence between this one and BF Bassman...maybe somebody else could, but not me. I am so digging this amp! First time I've had a 15 inch speaker in an amp and it sounds wonderful...like good vintage Jensens usually do!

I enjoyed doing this project and even enlisted my youngest son (a Drummer) to help me out with it, and he said he had a good time working with his father on it. Him and I will be jamming this afternoon with the Bantam.

Reb, Thanks...it is a unique guitar amp for sure. It isn't a Brown Face Super...but it does have some very sweet tones. Very Bassman like on the Bass Channel, and the other channel can get nice and nasty with much more mids (maybe due that extra knob). I am loving this amp and really enjoyed the re-build so much so, I am thinking that about maybe a Mojotone 5F1 Kit build for something a quite a bit more challenging, unless another amp needing help comes my way first!
