Some time ago, 2 years last month in fact, I posted a link to some pictures of my "FrankenFender" as I lovingly call it. She's a '65 Super Reverb housed in a '64 Vibroverb cab (covered in red tolex), that contained a JBL D-130 15" speaker. Long story short, when I bought her in 1981 the circuit had been modified, ostensibly for some low volume tube breakup, but it was just really poorly done. I had the mod removed and 3 amp techs later she's now in original working order. However, I never really liked the sound of it running through a 15" alone, way too much bottom end especially with a very hot 'bucker equipped guitar. That plus the fact that she's just too damn heavy and awkward to lug around for an old fart like me. So here's what I came up with. Hope you like her. I still have some work to do on the Vibroverb cabinet, (new speaker baffle, recone the JBL) but when I run a 1 or 2x12 cabinet in conjunction with the 15" the sound is unbelieveable. Of course it's also "super" clean, which brings me to another conundrum - what OD pedal should I put in front? I'd welcome any suggestions here but I'll post the question in another part of the site as well. Thanks for looking. Fenders Forever!

Goldtop...nice job on the Super Reverb as a head unit! I know what you mean about SR being heavy, my '72 tips the scales at 86lbs...but I do love me them original CTS 4 x 10 Speakers...although I know a guy who argue that your JBL might sound better!

Oh man your silverface is a beauty, looks nearly new. Yeah those CTS were hard to beat alright. i had 3x12's in a tall Kustom cabinet in the late 60's. Wish I still had that thing! I'll bet she can wake the neighbors! Can I ask, what pedals, if any, do you use?

Thanks Goldtop... I picked up the SFSR from the original owner and it was only used at his house and in his church! Only has a couple small scratches on the faceplate by the input. I also have a reconed CTS from the late 60's in my 64 Princeton, and it really makes that amp sing.

As for pedals, I keep it pretty simple...A Vox Wah Wah, a Digitech EC Crossroads Pedal, a Delta Labs Chorus, and a T.C. Eletronics polychromatic tuner and that is it...I get a pretty nice Derek and The Dominos tone on my 57 Vintage Reissue Strat with this set up.

Goldtop, I found the WIIO to work well with a '67 Bandmaster and a '68 Bassman(conversion 2X10 combo). It's pretty versatile,www.cabalinbread.com. Art

Goldtop, I'm not familiar with the newer amps. As far as vintage, I tend to build my amps to meld a Pro on one channel and a Bassman on the other. But a Princeton Reverb into 3X10's would probably be my next choice. Not a concise answer to your question, but my amps are not stock units. Being a player, I have no problem choosing the best of Leo's designs and expanding them to my preferences. BTW, the WIIO is used with an '89 Am Standard Strat with Fralin vintage pups and a Weber 5G15 stand-alone reverb unit. Good hunting and your head conversion seems cool. Art

Just been cruisn', playing in an acoustic and an electric band. Working on the more obscure amps like, Valco, Supro, and Magnatone. Thanks for the welcome back,GTG! Seems the fellas really covered all the tech bases during my sabbitical. Keep pickin' ! Art
