I found a shop selling an original deluxe reverb 22 watt 1x12 combo!! it LOOKS in decent shape minus being dirty. It was only 550 dollars. I don't know what to look for though, I don't want to get ripped off. I only heard it for about 2 minutes through some guy playing it and i don't think the vibrato channel worked and I remeber hearing it sound surprisingly sterile. I don't know i mean i wasn't exactly all there when I was seeing it so I need to go back.. but i need to know what to look and hear for to make sure it hasn't been like modded for the worse. I fear that because its that cheap I think that maybe there is some way it could have fake parts in it or something.. maybe im just insane/paranoid. anyways.. any tips would be awesome

Your post raises some questions.

When you say it's an "original," what do you mean? Is this a Reissue (current production) or an old amp with some problems?

What do you mean when you say it sounded "sterile?"

When you say "you weren't exactly all there," are you implying that you were somehow impaired when judging the amp?

Have you actually played this amp yourself?

Well when I had heard/seen this guy testing out the amp it looked like he tried plugging into the vibrato channel but couldn't get any sound out of it, so he went through the regular input. This music shop is probaly the smallest shop in America, so there wasn't much room to test it out of turn it up. I had watched him do this in a even smaller room where they do lessons. When he was playing it shortly, I wasn't as impressed with the tone as I thought I would be. To me it sounded just like anything else, maybe because the tubes were old or something. I do not beleive this is the DRRI. I think it is an original. I was just thinking maybe it isn't worth it if the vibrato channel, which i'd use alot, was out, and if i'd have to replace all the tubes to get a thick creamy tone..

I have a DRRI and man this thing is the best!! If it is indeed an original, you'll probably end up having to replace the tubes anyway. Old/bad tubes can make a HUGE difference in the tone. Originals are getting harder to find now days. If it works you should definitely get it!
