I know it's easy but it is kinda confusing with different answers.

Here's what I think please correct me if I'm wrong:

First to start off both switches are set down which I believe is off.

To turn on:

Flick the Standby switch up (towards the lettering "Standby")

Flick the power switch up.

Wait one minute then flick the Standby switch down and play.

To turn off:

Flick Standby switch up

Flick Power down

I know I'm probably wrong.

Flick Standby down.

And your amp play with the standby in down position ? I guess not

To power on;
Both switches are in down position.
1- Put the Power switch up for at least 30 seconds, 1 to 2 minutes is better.
2- After the time in "1" , put the Standby switch in up position .
3- Play guitar

To power off.
Put any swith down in any order to power off, but both switch must be in down positon at the end.
Some people will tell you it is better to start by Standby switch but is not my opinion.

Power switch on only, let your tubes warm up. After 30 sec to 2 minutes, tubes are warm enough and you can use the amp.
Like your car in cold wheather before take the highway.....

I'm not sure what it was set to cause the employee at guitar center turned it on. I asked about it he said to turn standby on first.

This is what the back of the same head model looks like. Both switches are set down to OFF.

I'm getting conflicting reports. Some say power on, standby, turn standby off after 1 minute. Others say power on, then standby on after 1 minute. And there's more combinations people are using. So you can understand it can be confusing. Even people who've been playing forever say different things.

nrman2003, you could be confuse.

Electricaly speaking an amp in Standby position mean the standby switch is open and mean the standby switch is at off position BUT amp is in Standby state.

If you put the amp in play mode , standby switch is ( electrically speaking ) in close position and the switch is on. For your amp the standby is off, no Standby state.

You follow me ?

Maybe that's why you can heard many words for the use of standby.

For your use of these Standby and Power switch refer to my answer yesterday

Thank you very much for clearing things up I'll make your way my bible. The only thing now I just need to pickup a speaker cable. I haven't got to try it out with my vibro king 2x12 with vintage 30s and I'm just dying to.

It's simple, turn the power switch on/up....wait a minute or more and then turn the standby switch on/up....then play.
What you're doing is letting the tubes warm up....to turn the amp off,do it the opposite way, standby down, then power down....the amp is off.

Just one more thing. I just want to confirm I have the cab hooked up correctly. My head has a ext speaker input and a speaker 50 watt input. I have the cable in the ext speaker input. I think that is right? I am trying to run it into a 4 ohm 140 watt vibro king cab.
