So my friends........I own a 1980 Deluxe Reverb and a 2011 Allen Sweet Spot. Question - if I were to buy another vintage Fender Amp, within a $500 to $1000 budget, what should I be looking for? I do like the blackface tone and I play a G & L ASAT w/ humbucker, Fender MIM Telecaster, and a Fender Telecaster w / P-90's.

Thanks in advance for your input and Merry Christmas to my Fender mates!

Beaubs...I have a couple suggestions. How about a Concert II? It has a very nice clean channel, but just a bit different from the classic blackface clean...and the distortion channel has a very good crunch to it, that might go nice with the P-90. I have had a 2x10 model from 84 from new and it has been a great gigging amp and very reliable. It is the last of the point to point wired Fender amps. And the second one, maybe a nice SFSuper Reverb? They have a nice classic clean tone and the if you like the highs they have them in abundance. Great speakers if it has the Alnico CTS 10s you have something special. Great amp. I have one of these too, so I might be a bit biased, but you asked for a Fender and something that was a bit different from what you had.

FWIW

Honestly man,it's getting really hard to find a vintage Blackface amp for $500-$1000,maybe a nice little Champ,or if you're really lucky a BF Princeton Reverb... :D,but that's going to be hard to find.

Despite the "word" many post CBS era amps (esp certain SF) really carry similar circuits as the pre-CBS BF models. And can be obtained for a bit less $$$$. Up to the pull-knob PR there really isn't much difference between BF and SF Princeton Reverbs. And certainly the Vibro-Champ BF and SF circuits don't vary too much--- can be easily revert. Whatever difference there are.
