I am amazed when people on this or any other forum, without any amp repair knowledge, ask how to repair their amp. Unless you are willing to learn about amps and invest in the proper equipment, it makes sense to just take it to a qualified technician. I know it cost money but it is well worth it.

Sometimes the problem is finding a qualified tech to trust with your amps :(

Sometimes, it's better to do it yourself. How many folks here act as the in-house "handyman" for all household ailments? Please raise your hand!

Really, it's nice to know a bit of how your amp works, even if you take it to a tech. Kinda like knowing a bit about cars. It helps in the reason for the repairs & cost. IMHO.

I am completely clueless about toob guitar amps. I just turned by 95 Trebleman amp on and smoke came pouring out of the back. What could have gone wrong and how can I fix it?

No. Really. Could it be the fuse? The last time this happened, I didn't have the correct fuse so I wedged a Penny across the fuse holder contacts. It worked ok for a while. :(

Is that how you're supposed to do it? I always just stuck a fork in it to see if it was done. :?: :?: :?:

I think the primary qualification around here is to have been shocked at least once. That way we can at least tell people what NOT to do.
