Hey guys, need some help with my vibrolux. Its starting to act weird, I cant get a clean channel from this amp for the life of me(tried multiple guitars and plugs etc), on top of that in the lower register it makes this awful tremolo noise even when the vibrato and reverb tank are unplugged. Any gurus out there have a guess at what my problem is? Im thinking the tubes might be going bad, as that seems to fix alot of problems but Im confused why it might cause a flutter. If its the tubes, do I replace ALL 9, or just the output?

Thanks in advance!

John

When's the last time this amp had any quality servicing?

While the symptoms may indeed be tube-related, I suspect issues within the power supply are the root cause (filter caps, biasing cap, and/or the power-rail resistors).

Hey, hard to tell, I haven't had it very long and she seems pretty neglected unfortunately. Damn, was hoping it was the tubes. Any way you could dumb down a trouble shooting guide for me to get to the root of the cause? Thanks for the reply

I'd get it serviced so it's good for another 30 years.

+1

Well worth the investment IMO.

And thirty years from now it'll still be possessed of substantial residual value when it's time to sell, instead of joining lesser "landfill-friendly" gear at the local dump.
