This is from an add on Hartford, CT craigslist.

Image

Small, low res image but it's good enough to see what it is.

On second thought the image is not clear enough to see what it is. It is a Princeton Reverb.

First off, Fender didn't make a Princeton Reverb until 1965, so the cosmetics don't match.

Guessing someone liked the older look and retolexed, added the older knobs. Unclear if faceplate is black or brown.

Not my cup of tea, but what's the price? Perhaps you can talk him down since it's not original...

Bingo! You're the winner! However, I think Fender did have a PR in '64.

This is a '78 PR that's been "brownfaced" cosmetically. It's only $650 "as is", the tremolo is not working. The custom faceplate is really nice, it is brown and has the proper stenciling around the controls to match the real brownface era amps.

I emailed the guy to see if he'd be willing to ship but haven't heard back yet.

My bad - the Princeton Reverb debuted in '64.

$650 for a Princeton Reverb is a steal, even if you need to fix the tremolo circuit. Just don't use the pull-boost and you'll be fine.

+1

Grab it if possible -- Princeton Reverbs are great little amps and typically command much higher prices. This one's been skillfully converted to 61-62 cosmetics (as nedorama astutely observed) and it seems that whomever did this was quite thorough -- even the handle is the correct leather-strap type.

Once in a blue moon, a real gem appears on C/L......this is one of those moments.

The guy never replied to my email.

It's listed in the Hartford, CT craigslist if anyone is interested. He's asking $850 and doesn't mention the tremolo not working. Maybe it's working now.
