Hello everyone,

I am currently interested in purchasing a late 50's tweed Champ. Just feeling a bit nostalgic, you know how it is.

I've come across one that looks almost too-good-to-be-true and so naturally this is setting off a few alarm bells for me, and I thought it best to consult the council. I do understand though that it is possible (on rare occasion) for someone to actually take care of their belongings.

The fleabay link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Fender-Tweed-Champ-Amp-Super-Clean-All-Orig-5F1-/390364317483?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D330641177373%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4474394955134197279

My two primary concerns are originality, as well as the price tag.

Any thoughts or general input (I am looking at you Arjay) would be more than appreciated. I won't be kicking myself too badly if it should be best wait for another one.

Thanks all and best regards.

Jeez ZF, that thing looks like it just beamed through "The Time Tunnel" with Doug and Tony......as clean as the proverbial pin and as unmolested as they come!

The price is *kinda* high but as we all know......

They're not making these anymore.

If you're really jonesing for a 5F1 you could do a whole lot worse -- but I don't reckon you'll ever do much better.

An average price for something nice is around $1200 -- for a junker, around a grand. This one deserves a premium based on cleanliness alone.

My local Guitar Center has a 57 Champ that looks like my dogs played with it for a few hours. They want $1195 for it. You got the cash for the E-Bay one, go for it before someone else does.

Hi all, just letting you all know that it appears I missed the boat. :(

When I logged on yesterday the owner had the listing removed. It's hard, but I guess it simply wasn't meant to be. I'll look out for a slightly more worn model that I can get for cheaper. That way I won't flip if anything bangs into it, and I kind of like that older look, anyway.

Either way, I WILL own a champ one day! 8)

Wave some cash in their face and they'll come way down.

Some may, some won't.

I had my eye on a mid '70s Vibrolux Reverb at a GC with an eye to converting it to blackface specs and cosmetics then building a new Leo-spec pine cab for it. The amp was a wreck -- literally -- yet they wouldn't budge on the $2100 asking price.

I ended up buying a near-mint '64 Pro Amp that day from a private party for a mere seven-hundred bucks.
