Nice rig.

I saw the standard-model Super Champs year ago when they were first introduced and played through them on a few occasions -- never the special-edition model like yours though, with the lacquer "au natural" furniture and the custom speaker. I think the Super Champ version was perhaps the most potent of the namesake. Brand new, they were only about five bills "back in the day"......now they go for stoopid $$$ on Ebay.

Who knew?

Nice looking Amp. Your post made me do a little research on those. At 18 watts, those are beefy "little" amps.

How long have you had it?

Thanks for posting the photo.

Indeed......like a Princeton Reverb.

ON STEROIDS!

These would be worthy of a re-issue, methinks.

Hi all, I've owned the Champ since purchased new in Hawaii in 1983. It sat basically unused for the last 28 years while I only occasionally fired it up. I was into the 50 watt Marshall sound at the time. Only recently, I've gotten into the 5 to 15 watt amps, and this little beast is 18 as pointed out. I've never run it wide open, although I've been tempted, but it makes great tones without having to do that. I'm glad I hung onto it, not for the resale, but for the amazing tones I'm now appreciating. I guess that happens with age. :D

I'm looking for others who might have one of this model, although, I really love all those little Champs. My search on these said something like "a 100" of the oak cabinets were produced. At the time I got it, it just looked cool and I thought it would be a good practice amp without carrying the larger gear. Turned out, it weighs close to 40 pounds. I bought a little Aria Birdie (about 4 pounds maybe) to use as a room practice amp.

It would be neat if Fender would reissue this model. It's approaching 30 years, so that might be a cool anniversary in a limited run. Hey Fender, are you listening?

Really appreciated the comments.

According to the 2011 Vintage Guitar Magazine Price Guide (which seems to be light on its prices), this little gem ranges from $1,300 to $1,600. That could be attributed to a low production run.

Its a dandy looking amp.

Even the standard Super Champ models go for $800 to $900.
