Hi Guys first post. Just got a great deal on a 1976 Fender Super Reverb. It's a 45 watt model with master volumn. I know from reading around that the very best Supers were Blackfaces. My question is to those that have experience with these amps. How does your "Silverface" sound compare to a "Blackface"?. Second question is have you any experience with the "Blackface" mod kit that brings a Silverface up to Blackface specs..

Deciding if I should keep the amp as it is or do a conversion. The kit is only $195. Is it a worthly upgrade?

All info is appreciated as usual and thanks in advance

I have a 1969 drip-edge Super Reverb with similar AB763 circuit as the blackfaces. Four 10-inch speakers, though they are mounted slightly different than the BF's. I believe that the AB568 and AA1069 circuits can be modifed back to the AB763.

Thanks for the reply. My reverb isn't a AB series. It's serial number just has a single A in it.

Hi Frankiev, this isn't the chassis number but the circuit type (which is usually on the tube chart). What number proceed the "A" in your amp.
