Hi everyone, I have an opportunity to pick up a 1980 Princeton Reverb. It's the model with the dreaded pull boost, but also it's a late 1980 when fender started to reuse the blackface cosmetics (I know it's not a real blackface).

Just wondering - Could anyone comment on the circuit or other aspects of this amp that might differ from a typical 70's SF? I can't find much info on the web about this specific year.

Thanks!!

Don't fear the pull -boost - just don't use it. Other than that, it's a great way to get a Princeton Reverb at a great price. I really love my '77; with Mazda NOS 6V6's it sings.

I'm not too concerned about the pull boost, I was just wondering if anyone knows any other obvious changes that might have occurred to the circuitry?

Thanks for the schematic. I will try to get some time this weekend to compare it to earlier schematics.

I think the footswitch-controllable boost circuit was the extent of it.

What are these amps worth in reasonable shape? I'm seeing a 1983 Princeton Reverb II advertized in the local classifieds. I assume they are Rivera built amps and likely built with solid state rectifiers.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

The Rivera-designed Princeton Reverb II dumps the traditional tremolo effect in favor of a switchable lead/rhythm pre-amp circuit plus an updated tone stack with added bright switch and middle control. The PS is rectified via solid-state diode stack. Maximum output is 20 watts, with the bonus of a headphone jack for silent play. They're nice amps and worth every penny if you can find one for eight bills or less.
