I've recently acquired a fender 75 and I don't know that much about it. Does anybody have any information about them, or know a site that does?

The 75 was one of three amps that shared the distinction of being the first Fender designs to utilize the cascaded gain-stage principle to achieve the saturated overdrive tones first popularized by Mesa-Boogie (the other two amps were the "30" and the "140", both of them relatively rare and discontinued early on). They were quite versatile and sounded good, with pull-boosts for the EQ section, channel switching, and an effects loop. The 1 x 12 and 1 x 15 combos are the most common variants but a head was also available, to be mated with a 4 x 10 or 2 x 12 enclosure. The 75 was introduced in 1980 and was manufactured through the 1982 model year.

I'm starting to wonder if people create new accounts and post questions just to see if Arjay can answer them. :D

I LOVE my Fender 75 1x15 combo. It's loud as balls with plenty of head room. Tough as a tank and about as heavy. The overdrive is not good in my opinion. It takes pedals well; although, I really couldn't get my Hendrix Fuzz Face Reissue to dial in with it.

I had a 75 for a while. They're a cheap buy and a ton of amp for the money (literally, they're heavy!).

One misconception that keeps getting repeated around the internet is that this was a Rivera designed amp - it was not. It was designed by Ed Jahns.

It's definitely an interesting beast. With a bit of effort, you can find some really good sounding settings on it. The weird thing is, you can also make this amp sound really bad with the settings. It's incredibly tweakable.

I've had a 75 combo 1x12 since 1983. I got it for a hs graduation present. I always loved this amp. It is very loud (and heavy). The original speaker was gone when I bought it and it had a Peavey speaker in it. I recently replaced it with a more efficient Eminence speaker which makes it sound even louder. I did a cap job and replaced the tubes at the same time that I did the speaker. This amp screams. I see them once in a while on ebay. Most of them are in tough shape. Wish I had bought the 30 to go with it when there were lots of them still around. The head version would have been nice to have too.

Hi Had my fender 75 for over ten years And yes they are heavy things to carry around. but they sound dam fine to me, and never let me down on the job or just jamming. Mine has two celestion G10-50 speakers replacet in the 80s i think . dam fine amps in my book...Cheep to buy too when you find one there a bit thin on the ground here in aus...Cheers...
