Helloooo,

I'm new here and am fishing around for suggestions. I have a '77 Princeton NR, and I am looking to replace the original Oxford speaker w/ something warmer and not as "ice picky" in the trebles. I don't want something muddy, just a good speaker that will tame the highs, but still retain clarity and definition, along with warmth and perhaps some roundness. I've tried to tame those "ice pick" trebles with the treble knob on the amp as well as my tone knob on my Strat, but I end up losing clarity and get muddiness in return.

I play mostly blues, some classic rock, but mostly blues.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

go to ANTIQUE ELECTRONIC SUPPLY ... they have all the vintage parts, including a WIDE range of speakers ... for warmth & authenticity, i would suggest the vintage ALNICO speakers from JENSEN (original specs of the OEM speakers that were in the vintage FENDER amps -- and most everyone else's in that era) ... anyway, it's a great place to shop around (and CALL -- they are VERY knowledgeable, particularly about the old stuff, which is hard to find!) ... here's the URL --> http://www.tubesandmore.com/

Eminence is now making a 10" Red Fang that would sound great with that amp.

The Weber VST C10VS is an amazing speaker. Sounds like a 12-incher in a 10-inch frame...
