It sounds like the amp may be due for a bench check and/or a tune-up. Most blackfaces, whether vintage or re-issue, should stay relatively clean up until around "7" with single-coils, "5" with humbuckers or P90s. Grit can be artificially induced via an OD pedal at a lower volume setting but sans some outboard enhancement they generally stay pretty clean.

What are the downsides of the vibroverb (2003 to 2008 model) in terms of the parts? (Not the sound)

It is a 15" speaker, I tough maybe it will burn down more quickly the tubes?

Thanks,
Chris

Speaker size has nothing to do with tubes life.

+1

The Vibroverb has sufficient power to comfortably drive four fifteen-inch speakers.

Yes, the 1964 'Stevie Ray' (AA763 circuitry) 15 inch 'speakered' Vibroverb still comes available from time to time, for those folks lucky enough to find one and have the asked for readies. Indeed an iconic amp, but let's not forget to mention its older sibling, by less than one year, the original 1963 'brownface' version of the 'Vibroverb' with its 2 ten inch speakers and the Fender 6G16 circuitry.

This '63 Vibroverb, rarer than the 15 inch version, as Fender chose to produce fewer than 500 units (too expensive to produce or to buy perhaps?), is highly sought after by collectors. It is greatly admired by those lucky enough to have played through it. It has an outstanding ability to shape any sound into an endless array of audible hues and colours. This is the amp that introduced the 'dark wet cave sounds' to many of us, with a combination of a newly available reverb, along with a variable vibrato effect. A truly an amazing amp.

Both these amps, the '63 Vibroverb (brown tolex) and the '64 Vibroverb (black tolex) are rated at 40watts.
