A few days ago, I received this '66(?) Bassman head in a trade.

It really sounds great, but there are a few small issues that I can see/hear.
It has an added master volume pot (thank God it wasn't added to the faceplate), It came with oxblood grill cloth, it had several of the wrong screws including the ones in the Fender logo, had a blue light, at some point the black was scraped off of the Fender logo.

The issue that I can hear is the deep switch on the Bass channel. I've never owned a Bassman before, so I'm not sure what it should sound like with the switch up. However, when you flip the switch, it sounds like a bright switch, more trebble is added. This does not seem correct for a "deep" switch.

Here are some before/after photos of the amp along with some gut shots for the experts. Anything else out of the ordinary?

About a year ago, I bought a '66 Tremolux that came with a Bassman 212 cabinet. I was lucky enough to find someone who was nice enough to sell me some blackface grill cloth that matches my cabinet almost perfectly. I used it on the Bassman head, and now I have a matching set. He also traded me a red light in exchange for my blue one and gave me the correct screws for the Fender logo.
I consider myself a pretty lucky guy today.

The amp is a '67, built during the second week in January of that year.

The grill cloth appears to be salvage that was removed from a mid-70's model (characterized by the vertical rust/orange stripe within the weave).

The deep switch should actually roll the treble off -- I suspect a cap change there (compare your components to the AB165 schematic to confirm). The bias circuit has been modified with the addition of a second pot, likely to provide a true adjustable bias in addition to the stock "balance" control.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Two quick questions:
1. Wouldn't mid-70's cloth have blue stripes instead of rust/orange?
2. I'd like to check the capacitor with the schematic, but wouldn't know which ones to check in the circuit. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks again.

Look at this schematic; The capacitor is a 0.1 mfd connect on the deep switch, upper left on schematic .

Your amp look to have lots of modification/ parts replacements
