A 58/59 Tweed Champ 5F1 .... you gotta be kidding me. I can't believe some of the stuff that people donate.

Certainly a great thing for Goodwill.

Currently at $1,051.00 with 2 days left to bid
Unfortunately for cheap SOB such as myself, bidding at Goodwill has turned to crazy money.

Also a SF Champ that needs some TLC

That SF Champ (circa 1974, BTW) is certainly worthy of redemption (if the bidding remains within the bounds of sanity).

That is insane! I wonder if the people at Goodwill even knew what it was when they put it up for sale.

I guess if say, a relative passed away and the family was getting rid of a bunch of old junk and they're not musicians, how would they know any different? To some it's just "grandpa's crappy old amplifier."

It really makes you wonder what doesn't get sold...I'm cynical and always think of what somebody might keep that's really good.

Sure does,I always wonder two things when I hear about estate sales...was the deceased person a guitar player or gun owner. :)

I have a client - a vintage home furnishing shop. She does a lot of estate sales to acquire things for her store. I have given her some basic information about what to look for concerning amps and guitars. Some guitars she could sell as a decorative items, other she's to call me.

She did say she's seen her share of old amps. I don't fantasize about her calling me about a tweed Deluxe or Bassman, but I'd love to score an old Valco or maybe some old Silvertone or Teisco guitars.

Stopped by some estate sale not long ago, got some silver and turquoise jewelry for 10 bucks. I looked hard for music stuff but nothing, the old lady was a photographer and I knew nothing of it. I just love being allowed to snoop through other people stuff, always hoping to find the old Strat under the bed.

I think so also.

Shopgoodwill.com has now been discovered. I think the days of getting a bargain on at their auctions have passed. :(

That's why I stay on friendly terms with the gentlemen at my local "Transfer Station" aka the town dump. They pull things to the side for me to view when I come by. 8)

All my gear is itemised and distributed in my Will - no executor is gonna flog my stuff for peanuts - no chance of a "bedroom Bargain" here!
