I am confused. I recently came upon a Deluxe Reverb amp. I was not sure the year it was manufactured when when I obtained it. The serial chassis number is A 33633. This indicates it was the 634th Deluxe Reverb amp manufactured in 1971. I found an image on the net of a Deluxe Reverb with chassis number A 33175. D R number A33175 has a different face plate than mine. Printed on the silver face plate is
DELUXE REVERB
AMP
instead of the face plant on my amp pictured below. Was this common for amps produced so close together to have different face plates? My amp has a Fender logoed speaker in it. The image of the one I found on the web has a Jensen speaker in it. I understand that the Jenson could be an aftermarket speaker. The web page I used to identify the year my amp was manufactured indicates that Fender used speakers from eight different companies and give codes for each of the eight manufactures. Where on the speaker or on the amp would this code be? The picture of the amp A3175 is very small and may be to difficult to read.

Model year 1971 was the changeover point for front panel nomenclature. The earlier amps (throughout Fender's entire product line) had the word "AMP" integral with the model name.

Your speaker, if OEM to the amp, should be an Oxford 12K5 or 12L6 (EIA prefix "465-XXX") or a Utah (marked "328XXXX"). However, the Utah speakers built for Fender used a silver-and-orange label on the back of the magnet and carried the Fender P/N of "081810". This same speaker was used in the Bandmaster, Bandmaster Reverb, and Pro Reverb amps.

Thanks Arjay for the info. I screwed up the photos I had posted. I corrected the photos. The speaker has the blue label so it an Oxford. It did not come with pedals. Do you know of any sources where the pedals can be purchased? It has 6V6GT tubes instead of 6v6 and a 504GB instead of GZ34. It sounded great before my son blew a tube. At least I think he blew a tube. Any recommendation for a new tube set for the amp? Thank for your help
Dan

Ebay regularly lists BIN auctions for vintage-style Fender reverb/trem pedals. About $40 to $45 is typical. You'll need the type that uses dual RCA phono pin plugs (the re-issues use a single stereo ¼-inch plug).

You may use 6V6GT *OR* 6V6GTA output tubes in the amp but they should only be installed as matched pairs. Likewise, the amp's idle bias should be checked and, if necessary, adjusted to spec. I'd stick with the 5U4GB rectifier for this vintage of DR (I believe it superceded the GZ34/5AR4 in 1969).

As for the pre-amp glass, you'll get the best performance from the amp by using 12AX7A's wherever an original 7025 is specified (or if the wallet permits, buy some NOS 7025's). The V6 phase inverter (12AT7) will perform best if possessed with balanced transconductance for both halves -- this ensures symmetrical operation of the output tubes and extends their service life.

Best of luck, HTH

Uh......I have no professional affiliation with FMIC or its predecessors, FMI and FEIC.

I'm just a fan like everybody else here.
