The soon to be release Acoustasonic amps (100 & 150) have settings to emulate Blackface, Tweed, and British amps so it can double as an electric guitar amp. What are the characteristics of these amps?

A lot can be written in answer to that question, and there are a lot of different amps in those families....Tweeds have more mids and earlier breakup than Blackface amps, and the Blackface sound is usually described as scooped mids and most have the reverb channel...British...think of Marshall amps.
See...without searching and reading about the amps themselves...and really understanding the differences in the advancement of the Fender sound, and the British copy of the Bassman...it's a broad subject to really get a concise answer.

What RJ....don't you see the need for an amp that can accurately duplicate all those amps to get the sounds we get with our vintage amps? I'll bet we couldn't even tell the difference.

Ha!
You two could tell the difference if they filled your ears with cotton balls and put a lead wall between the amp and yourselves!

dwditty - go buy one of each and see if any of them can be matched by a all-in-one.

Thanks for the compliment,tyronne!...we've logged thousands of hours on Fenders over the years,RJ and I,some of it had to sink in .. and I have to admit, for about 8 years in the '70s I played a great Marshall 50w. 2x12 combo,of all the non-Fender amps I've owned and got rid of,I would like to have that one back,I regret that one getting away.

+1

Back in the mid '70s I was playing a Super Lead Plexi with a pair of Sunn 412S cabs -- talk about moving some air!

St. Peter could hear that stack all the way up in Heaven.

In my first incarnation of a guitar player I had a Ampeg Gemini II with a 1x15, I think.
Boy was that a heavy sucker! Had to lug that up 3 flights of stairs for practice twice a week and then bring it back home each time. It was my version of "hard" rock.

After my Strat was stolen ( early 70's model ) I lost interest in guitar playing (no money and had just got married ). The thief never took the amp, would have killed him ( and rightly so! ). So I put that in the basement and a few years ago, my wife gave it to the kid next door. Didn't tell me she did it until I went looking for it. Pissed? You bet! About 3 years ago I got interested again in guitar playing and wished I had that Gemini. Boy that amp sounded so fine...

The kid grew up to be assistant manager at the local GC. I asked him about the amp and he said he no longer had it. He's given me great deals on guitars and a amp I bought from him but I wish I had the Ampeg back... :(

c'est la vie
