You are going to love this speaker. I've put 12F150A (no doping) into DR's and they really bring the amp to life (compared to the tired old original speaker). They are very efficient, so you'll gain some volume and bass.

Good luck. Eager to see your reaction!

+1

The Oxford 12K8 is a singularly unremarkable loudspeaker compared to a vintage Jensen C12R. The Weber will most assuredly put some "fire" under the hood.

I have the 12F150s in three of my DRs a '65,'66 & '67...also I have two of the speakers in my '66 Pro Reverb....all the rest have Webers also except the Vibrolux with the Tone Tubby, which is fantastic.....Webers are great speakers I have been using them for 10 or 12 years I guess.
You will love it,just give it some break in time, don't go full tilt for a little while, for the first hour or so I just build up strumming full chords up and down the neck and don't just focus on single note riffs,it works for me....after 10 hours or more you will really like what you hear. :D ...they just get better.

T - The DR went throught the pases with few issues. Tubes were tested, replaced, and biased.....new plug, new input jacks, everything was cleaned and tested - the caps were ok. It is a beautiful sounding amp and I am very pleased with the exception that is get farty on the low end, hence the Weber. All in all though I am very happy with my purchase. It gives me that true Fender sound. I now have the DR and the Sweet Spot (mirrors the Princeton Reverb) a Telecaster, an ASAT and a Strat. The house is filled with beautiful tone.

Been meaning to ask ...

Do the DR have the same "tremlo tick" that the DRRI have?
I've seen a fix for this but wasn't sure if it would impact the amp in other ways.

Some trems tick, others do not. And that applies equally to vintage and re-issue amps. Neither of my re-issues do it (TRRI, DRRI -- respectively, a '91 and a '93) but my '67 Showman makes some slight noise. It seems to be most prevalent with the silverfaces due to lead-dress issues and Fender did issue a TSB with a easy fix back in the early '70s (someone here may have it archived, I'm not sure). IIRC it involved adding a cap in parallel with the trem roach and re-routing a couple of wires on the tag board.

As for tremolo/vibrato tick... I had a SF Bandmaster that had this malady real bad. Re-doing the solder to the sockets of the 12AX7 in this area and repositioning the lead wires to the sockets stopped the problem. Here's a link:

Maybe this is it Arjay?

Fender Service Bulletin #9, "Vibrato Ticking Cures"

"The ticking caused by the vibrato is caused by improper lead dress.
It can almost be "cured" by connecting an 0.01 mfd 600 volt mylar capacitor on the 10 meg ohm resistor in the vibrato circuit. This resistor is located on the parts panel. Remove capacitor across 10 meg ohm resistor (old modification) if in circuit. [So, just solder in a 0.01 mfd/600 volt mylar capacitor between the 10 meg ohm resistor (where in connects to the opto-isolator) and ground (you can run it to the adjacent solder joint where the coupling cap and resistor go to ground)].
If this does not provide the desired results, then the leads should be dressed and excessive lengths shortened.
1. Dress the leads to the vibrato speed and intensity controls away from the tone controls and filter leads.
2. "Bunch" the leads to the components on the parts panel which connect to the tube socket of the 7025 (12AX7) vibrato tube."

The "tick" only annoys me when I'm close to the amp in between playing. It's only then that I say..." I have to look into this!"

Not sure if the above fix relates to the DR or DRRI....suspect the DR with the mention of the 7025 tubes. Would be tough to address lead dress on a PCB!

But I love my DRRI!!!
Even my son-in-law who is a Marshall-Man through and through comments on the great tone!
Only smart thing he's said since asking for my daughter's hand in marriage...but I digress.
