+1000!

And do I see "PATENT PENDING" stamped on those tilt-back legs?

Arjay, the tilt back legs have "FENDER" in block letter. Some other stamped parts numbers up by the pivot. Need to remove the legs to see exactly what it says.

I redid the power IC supply caps (only had Sprague ATOMS in the mfd/voltage range). The bias power supply cap. Screen resistors (the grid stoppers were within 5% tolerance, so I let them be). And the bypass caps off the signal tubes. I noticed that someone had separated the cathode straps to ground off V1 and V2 (usually shared on most AB763 circuits). So I kept this option (see photo). Just ramping up the beast right now. Should be ready for a test spin in a hour or two.

Will post some photos of the amp assembled, once the caps are formed.

IC PS cap replaced. New PS resistors:

Three-prong cord added. Black (hot) line now connected to fuse:

Bypass caps and three ceramic discs in tremolo section replaced:

Note separate cathode to ground on V1 (line with blue insulation around it)

The really old tilt-backs will be stamped thus......

Each of a matched set will have a serial on one leg only though occasional examples may be found without a number. I believe this practice was discontinued sometime during early 1969 (research on this topic is still in progress).

Arjay, Yeah the "pat pend" is on the right leg (looking at the front of amp) only. Never noticed that before.

Chassis and tubes in place... idling:

Tone of the amp is everything that ppl say of Super Reverbs. The 10-inch speakers really reproduces the guitar's subtle tones very well. And having four of them gives you amazing bass response. The reverb section in this amp is as strong as my Twin Reverb. Tremolo/vibrato is not as cool sounding as the brownface Pro (which uses tube driven phase shift oscillation and not a opto-roach). Both Normal and Vibrato inputs are very quiet.

The GZ34 in combo with the 6L6GC's really gives the amp life. A big range of tone. This amp runs pretty clean up to "5-6." Then, start a slower onset of overdrive and crunch as compared to the Twin Reverb. The Super prolly doesn't project as well as the Twin (which has two JBL D120F). Hard to say, as I just put a few hours of test driving onto it.

Tone controls are nice and responsive. Don't have the thing really dialed-in, yet. But, sounds pretty good with minor knob twisting. Nice Bluesy tone... with no pedals.

Thanks for all the comments. Glad I got another SR. This amp reacts and has a tone very much like my old BF Super.

IOW it looks, plays, and sounds just like a Super Reverb should!

No "incredible simulation", no "faithful recreation", no "modern interpretation", no bullshit.

Just the "right stuff"......ALL THE WAY.

8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
