The last factory reference I have that depicts the 12-inch tone-ring cab is the 64-65 Fender catalog which lists all three Showman variants -- the 1 x 12, the 1 x 15, and the 2 x 15 Dual Showman. I surmise that the Showman 12 was discontinued around the same time as the 40-watt non-reverb combos (Vibrolux, Pro, and Concert).

Good to know Arjay. I think I'm glad that this cab didn't work out for the emo/metal guy I bought it off for $200. Plus the Celestions are up on eBay, so that will help pay part of the Warehouse Speakers -- they arrived before all of the hardware (of course) so my big plans to put the cabinet back together will be next weekend. If you know anyone who wants a pair of date code matched '78 Rola Celestions... pm me.

Throw them up on your local C/L, ned. No fees to list or sell......you might get a hit or two. Just an idea.

probably should have, but they're already on eBay with a bid on 1 and looky-loos on the other. Next time. Plus with work, it's easier to ship stuff on the weekends vs. waiting for someone.

Twew dat.

It took me nearly three months to unload my Stage 100 DSP amp on C/L -- but I did finally sell it and at my asking price. It just takes some patience to weed out the tire-kickers, the jerk-offs, and the flakes. For my trouble I pocketed roughly $110 in profit.

My cab is back, wired up and tilt-back legs on!

Will be breaking in the Warehouse G12C's this weekend, both with the Showman head as well as the Dr. Z Mini Z. Have a show on 10/7, so want to get them well broken in by then.

Caveats: Yes, I know my grill cloth isn't the best; this was my first attempt but wanted to get them speakers in and broken in. Since the rest of the tolex on the Showman head and the Bandmaster cab is fairly "road worn," I'll worry about it when I re-tolex head and cab and re-do the grill cloth. Big thing is that the front baffle now has wood touching the wood cleats inside the cabinet - no more grill cloth in-between, so that should help. Haven't put in insulation or batting; will see how it sounds without first.

On the grill cloth, I'm guessing it's also something you get better at with practice... looks like I need to practice more!

Thanks to Arjay and everyone who helped with recommendations and suggestions!

Looking good ned!
One question though...why re-tolex? from the pics it doesn't look that bad and the roadworn look is cool. :D

thanks - good point. I may wait on the retolexing and just glue a few flaps here and there. I will at some point work to get the front baffle grill cloth better attached, but right now, it's ready for playing!

Have to wait 2 hours before firing it up as our next door has a 3 month old baby who sleeps lightly...
