Hello I am the proud owner of a 1965 Twin Reverb And a 1966 fender Twin Reverb, And a 1966 Deluxe Reverb with a Jbl D120f. Istarted getting into fender blackfaces of DECEMBER2010 On this date i PURCHASED MY 1ST BLACFACE A 1967 PRO REVERB,all original except for the grill cloth. I t was my 1st and I was amazing at the beautiful ton e ,reverb ,etc. It left me craving for more so inJAN2011 I PURCHASED A 1966 DELUXE REVERB WITH A JBL D120 F, At first believe it or not I wasnt a big fan of the deluxeUNTIL I LEARNED HOW TO USEIT!! It breaks up perfectly and the great natural gain you get when cranking it without having to blow your ears apart controling ithe volume from your guitar,Now I became obsessed with these machines and bought the book "THE SOUL OF TONE" 60years of Fender Amps In May I Came across a pre cbs 1965 FENDER TWIN REVERB$ (IT WAS MISSING THE ORIGINAL SPEAKERS)Imanaged to snag that out the door for only $1100 and luckily that week found a pair of 1966 Jensens on ebay and won the bid at $78 (one had to be reconed however) This 1965 blew me away, the beauty ,size ,POWER AND TONE IS FANTASTIC,is how I learned the meaning of the description "PURE TONE",I loved that tone and power of the 65 soo much that I put my67 pro reverb for sale anD WITH THE FUNDS FROM THE PRO RE VERB BOUGHT ANOTHER TWIN REVERB A 1966,This one is all original including the jensens!!Im convinced I found the holy grail of tone,Running the twins in tandum and having an OCD FULLTONE OVERDRIVE PEDAL CAN TURN THE TWINS INTO A MONSTER!! LOL!!,Ive heard that the amp to get However out of the BLACKFACES IS THE SUPER REVERB!! IS THIS RIGHT EVERYONE? REALLY? You mean it can get better than this!!I heard that the 4 10s and the size of the cabinet is purely addictive ,which makes the super reverb blackface the best out of the blackfaces,Not as preffered preference but as a fact,I would just like to hear your thoughts and perhaps from owners or people with experience with these super reverbs,Im really thinking of adding a super reverb to my collection thanks!!

No,the Super Reverb is just another Blackface amp...it's not the "great blackface" as you put it....thay are good amps though and lots of people love them.
To tell you the truth,it's personal preference, most of the blackface amps in the 40 watt range sound very similar to me,you can read about them in the Soul of Tone....but they are different.
I really like the Brownface tone better...it's a nice "in between" tonal range, different than the tweeds and blackface amps....but I do love my Blackface amps. :D
They all sound great when they're maintained.

+1 - to each his own, although many feel that the Super Reverb's combo of the 40 watts, reverb, 4-10" speakers and tube rectifier is the ticket.

thing is, the AB763 circuit had multiple versions, from Bandmasters to Tremolux to Super Reverb and Showmans - all variations on the theme. Depending on the wattage, tube or solid state rectifier, speakers, open/closed back cab, each amp sounded very different from the next.

I've got blackface amps now, but may have to start looking for a Deluxe or Pro brownface one of these days...

Just means you need to get more amps, but if the Super is the great one for you, you're set!

It's one of the great blackface amps but I would be hard pressed to call it the greatest. They each have their benefits but for me I would have to call the Deluxe Reverb the quintessence of blackface.

In a simple word, yes. I've played on all kinds of dual and quad 6L6GC Fenders and the BF Super Reverb epitomizes the "Fender" tone of the 1960's. I wish I never sold mine.

Mine was a AB763.

Everybody has their favorites and a lot depends on the types of music you play and the venues you play it in.
For me,I'm mainly a blues player so the Brownface tone gets that midrange I'm looking for that isn't quite there in the AB763 circuits with the so called "scooped mids"....but I really like the Blackface sound...I have to add that I usually plug straight into the amp with rarely any effects pedal.
If I was going to sell everything and keep the ones to cover all my bases,it would probably come down to these:
1966 Pro Reverb, with the 2x12s and 40 watts it can cover the higher volume needed for a bigger room but still breakup at a decent level.
1966 Deluxe Reverb 1x12 and 22 watts,of the three that I own, this one is the mojo tone machine...a classic.
1960 Super 2x10 and approx. 40 watts, somewhat up there with the Pro Reverb in power, but the 10" alnico speakers are very warm and crunchy at a lower volume....great blues tone.
1962 Vibrolux,1x12 35 watts, this one is a real wonder, with 2 6L6GC power tubes it's the only combo in that configuration that Fender made....a real sleeper.....and a hard one to find, but well worth it.
I could get by with those four amps, and get a vintage tone with enough differences to keep me from getting bored.

Each BF amp has its fans, depending on the tone you're after... the TR is a monster and the best Fender clean, the DR has one of the sweetest tone with its 6V6 tubes, the prefect break-up IMO. But that SR is one mean sounding amp, ballsy and just screams at you! The highs are perfect for me and that mean low end cannot be found anywhere else. If I had to pick only one it would be the SR for me.
