I know way OT, for a Fender Amps board, but if any of you work on or have one of these great little amps of the 1960's... there is a pretty good source of NOS ECF82 on Ebay, right now.

I consider the German, Munich Siemens to be one of the better made ECF82 (along with original Mullards).

Several other late 1950-1970 amp makers (usually British---like some Selmers) used this triode-pentode (kinda like RCA's 7199). Very good tube. FWIW.

Der Vox mit Blauen Bulldoggen ist unglaublich!

I find that the new issue Gold Alnico G-12 Celestion (wtih 50 watt rating) has a good tone. But not nearly as aggressive as the original Blue Bull Dogs. Though supposedly designed like the original Bull Dogs, the Golden Alnicos are supposed to handle more wattage. The two that I've tried have a very warm, Bluesy tone. But lack the real bite of the early Vox AC15 and AC30 amps.

Of course a lot could be the way Vox pushed the begeebers outta their wonderful Mullard EL84 and front end tubes. Those Blackburn made beauties had this agressive tone with great midragne harmonics---that I've only found in good NOS 1970-80 Hungarian Tungsram ECC83, 82, 81 and EL84. I don't believe I've ever seen a Hungarian made ECF82.

Vous remercier, verser le pauvre d'excuse de talaing de tolérer verse français

My JCM800 50W combo was equipped with a pair of EL34 (almost sure it was Mullard) but I was desapointed as I was looking for a bluesbreaker sound ! Now those amps are collectors !

I've been lucky enough to play through the Bluesbreaker combo loaded with GEC/MOV KT-66. BIG difference versus the EL34 loaded 'breaker. Much more agressive tone. Chimey high notes--- really almost an Ampeg head unit tone. I'm not sure what Celestion were used, but pretty sure they were ceramic magnet. Powerful. Not the warm, Bluesy tone of the alnico's of the day.

Not sure if the KT-66 ran same trannies--- but that BB did not have the saturation character of the EL84 BB. If you get a chance , try one of these puppies out. Think you'll agree[--- they are nothing like the EL34 Marshall 45-50 watt amps.

I think Marshall mixed KT66 (I've heard about 6L6 in US ?) and EL34 to make sure of surviving in case of EL34 rising stock, that also one of a reason that I bough a SS after my JCM, 30 years after all those valves are still available     and I'm back to almost full valve 7ender amp !

Indeed.

Think about all the poor shmucks with vintage Ampegs (V2, VT22, V4, B25B, etc) who had their amps converted to 6L6's after production of the 7027A ceased.
