I have a Super Reverb that I've had for a long time and have been told it's vintage. How can I find out how old it is? I've had no luck in locating a model number. Also, how easy (or not) is removing the covering for cleaning?

At the rear of the chassis, on the right side, you'll find a stamped serial number. Compare it to data shown here......

As for "removing the covering for cleaning", forget it. The only reason the covering is ever removed is to replace it due to rips, tears, abrasions, and the usual "battle scars" these amps suffer over the years.

Pics of the amp may help too. Might be able to give you more info. We love Super Reverbs here...well at least a couple of us do!

For many years during the late blackface and early silverface eras, the Super Reverb was the most popular (by total sales) amp in Fender's line-up.

And what a tone that young man gets! I like how simple he keeps things, SG into his SR, heavenly tone! The last time I saw him, couple years ago maybe, he opened for Santana, then the two jammed together later... his tone was the best I heard in years!

He grew up down here or close by and I heard he bought that 65 SR from the same place I bought most of my gear back in the 90s... he was like 13. Thoroughbred Music was the place, was bought out by Sam Ash few years ago, too bad, was a great place to go to!

I read somewhere not too long ago that some scumbag stole a gear trailer of Derek's with two or three SR's and other stuff but I'm fairly sure he got most of it back....if I find that somewhere I'll post it.
