You may want to take a look at the Valve Wizard's portion on trannies. Esp the Power Ratings and inherent power regulation (starts about pg 12 of the PDF file on Power Transformers).

There are definite benefits to a well designed transformer, not only in consistent tone---but also life expectancy. Prolly one of Fender's overall good points, through the years. Though some of the RI and solid-state issued models have come up lacking, at times.

Nothing to apologize for there......they're tone monstahs!

I've got an all-original '67 drip-edge silverface DR in transit from Oklahoma (Ebay purchase). I should have it in a week or so.

Must make more space in the amp room......

Here's a little taste......

(pic from the Ebay listing)

If the seller is to be believed, I'll be the third owner.

Looks really clean Arjay! Looks like it just came out of the shipping box!!!
Any known issues with it?

Hope you'll give us a full report once it's in your very capable hands?

The seller sent it to his amp tech for a full check-out and check-up before shipping. Some tubes were replaced but otherwise she's all stock and in outstanding condition. I'll have a full report after receipt sometime next week.

Hey Arjay, Just so you don't have to work too hard, I have PLENTY of Room left in my music room if you are in need of additional storage space, and I won't even charge you a storage fee. I might even go ahead and keep the caps good and cooked every week!

I am just looking out for your health and all :!:

Arjay, that "drip-edge" SFDR is some kinda nice looking amp. Kinda makes it stand out over the flat non-drip-edge BF or SF amps. And to think the pattern was designed during the CBS era...

I've already have had three offers for my drip-edge SFSR. I swear that amp almost makes my ES-335 sound like a 12-string. Amazing depth, sweet harmonnics, and sound stage. And all with no pedals.

Enjoy that amp. You'll prolly end up using that for gigs as much as any other amp.
