I was told that it is a 2 owner amp and that there were no updates, repairs, or mods to speak of. It sounds great so far but I am going to take it in next week to have the caps reviewed, and then new tubes and bias. I think I am going to keep the original speaker in as I find nothing wrong with how it sounds although this is my first Deluxe Reverb so I have no real comparison except playing other amps in the local stores. As it is sits now I have been rattling the windows and as the volume increases the family has been giving me the "stink eye" if you know what I mean..... 8)

.......I'm havin' fun!

Looks good Beaubs!...as long as you're happy with the sound I wouldn't change the speaker, the other stuff you mentioned, yeah, that's good service insurance.
A Deluxe Reverb is a great amp,it can cover a lot of styles.

Beaubs, nice amp and as for the stink eye...my wife has become the worlds biggest critic, whenever I play she makes a point of telling, the first one sucked, the second song was ok, third one was fine...the last one, she says stuff like...where you getting tired, that sounded like crap! Of course every so often she comes down to the man cave and listens and when that happens she usually says nothing :!: :!: :!:

Enjoy the "New" amp.

Beaubs,
If the speaker ain't broke, don't fix it. Enjoy the mojo of that classic amp.

Cheers,

Very nice! $800 is quite a good price. Yeah, have a tech look at those 'lytic caps before you start cranking "her" to "10." I'd hate to later read a post that an original cap popped and spilled it's guts on such a good amp. Even the trannies look pristine. Check out a listing on Ebay for a SF Deluxe Reverb, not nearly in such good shape. And the current $$$$.

One thing you may want to consider with these "late" issued Fender SF amps--- is metal bottom corner protection. Esp if you are going to gig with it. The wood is prolly all particle board. And sometimes they start to disintegrate when bumped on edges and corners. AES sells the corner guards, as many other vendors.

Good luck with the new toy!

Well done! don't worry about the pull boost - as long as you don't actually use it, it doesn't mess with your tone. This was Fender's answer to Mesa and other amps to try and get a more overdriven sound. I'm sure someone liked the tone at some point, but I'm not one of them.

Great, great find for $800! Congrats.

Good buy on the amp. I am sure you will have to put some money into it. But you should have that amp for a long time.

Ok gang,

After a full weekend with the new Deluxe Reverb, I am very, very pleased with the performance, with one exception - at higher volumes the speaker tends to "fart out". I worked hard at adjusting bass, treble, volume to find an answer but to no avail. Not sure if there is a stock answer or if I need to look at a new speaker? The photos on this page show the speaker (not sure if youcan tell the type). Any ideas?

Any numbers stamped or affixed to that speaker would be helpful to ID it.

You might try a newer speaker to minimize the "flab". It's likely that age has taken its toll on the existing driver's suspension and surround. Weber's 12F150 would be a good all-around choice -- the 12A150 will yield a more vintage compressed tone when driven hard.

HTH
