Going to look at a 70's sliverface Deluxe Reverb posted on Cragslist. Looks good in photos. The asking price is $700.

Questions:
Is $700 a fair price if the amp checks out?
Other than the obvious (condition, sound, speaker type, etc), what things should I be looking for that could pose problems?

Let me know if you have a chance...

Thanks,

Beaubs

Seven-hundred dollars is a reasonable price.

Pick it up immediately. Even if it has problems they are easy to work on.

$700 is a crazy-@ss good price. Damn Princetons and even BF Champs are going for that much on EBay. As long as it's trannies are good & plays with a modicum of hum or other annoying noises.

Even if you don't like it, you can easily get your money back by selling it. The only thing that I might do is check the main power supply caps and bias caps for leakage or blisters. (really, I replace all the 'lytics, unless they've been done recently). Check the bias. Then, use the thing.

You'll kick yourself for passing on that deal.

The Deluxe Reverb is safely stowed in the back seat of my car and I will be home ready to fire it up by 5:00 pm this evening. It looks great, and sounds even better. The owner stood firm at $700, I obliged.....I think I made a good buy. By the way, the seller initially stated that it was a 1979 model but when I discussed this further he admitted that he actually was unsure of the exact year. How do I identify the exact manufatured date?

Report and photos to come this weekend!!!

OUTSTANDING, BEAUBS!

Take a look at the EIA codes stamped on each of the trannies and let us know what they are. Those, along with the chassis's serial number, will allow for an educated guess as to its age.

Rawk on!
