Just brought this home. Have to get the transformer code to date it. The number on the chassis is A 50255. (1975?).

All original - including speaker. A couple of small tears in the tolex. Excellent sound.

I wasn't looking to buy a Vibro Champ, but I was looking around CL in some of the smaller towns here in Ohio.... found this one outside of Lima is a small town. I couldn't pass up the price.... and I didn't dicker with the seller about price. Just gave him his full asking price. I think you call this Farm Fresh.

Very nice! FYI... if you need a new cap can, AES has the FP multi-section 20/20/20 at 525VDC available, again (they were out-of-stock for about 6 months).

Part number: C-EC20X3-525

Love those Champs!

Thanks for the info. Once I got it back to the house I noted the Bass doesn't work. So - probably need to switch out a cap. Taking it to the amp tech at lunch.

I tested it the best I could in my car ( I have an DC/AC inverter so my boys could use their play station in the car on those long trips), but when you're in a high school parking lot, its a tad hard to hear everything.

These seem to go for about $400 in the Dayton/Cincinnati area, so I was happy to get this amp. Of course, it sets back my savings account for that PR or DR I want.

I like taking these amps to my tech for the once over. The Vibro goes over at lunch today.

You must always allow for "targets of opportunity".

+1... I wasn't looking for a sweet sounding SF Super Reverb, but when one came a knocking I just had to answer! Great score and enjoy that VC, they are great little porch weasels!

Thanks all..... I think the lesson I learn from this purchase is to keep an eye out in Craigslist in those smaller markets. There might not be a lot of listing, but when a good one comes up, the competition isn't too stiff. Several people had contacted the buyer and all were offering less than his asking price. I just ponied up the cash knowing it was a good price.

I need to do a family photo.

How in the heck do you connect it to your Dual Showman? Have you set up the amp with a line out or 1/4 inch jack to your speakers? And is that the Dual Showman with the JBL 15s?

All it takes is a speaker cable with an RCA plug on one end. The Bronco's speaker jack is an RCA type, situated right next to the jack for the tremolo footswitch. With the amp's volume dimed it makes for a Robert-Cray-meets-SRV vibe through those two JBL D130Fs. It's about as loud as one of those miserable EL84-powered "fizz boxes" but without the hiss.

About four years ago on a cold snowy night, at a club gig, during a break, a dude walks over to me and asked if I would be interested buying a amp he found cleaning out a house. He wanted $30 because he needed beer money.

I went out with him, and in the back of his pickup truck, there was this amp Image

a '68 Princeton, expect it was covered with snow! Fortunately it was laying face-up and cold, so the snow didn't hadn't melted thru the grill cloth. Seeing this I offered him $25 for the amp because I told him that it was probably ruined being in the snow. He agreed!

I went back in the club, got a couple of towels from the bar and wiped as snow as I could off, stuffed dry towels in the back and put the amp in my trunk.

That was a Fri night, the next day I called my amp tech at Abell Audio http://www.abellaudio.com/ and took the amp over to him.

Four days later he called and the amp was ready (ready for what? I thought). It worked, still had all the original tubes and Jensen Speaker (I have a picture of the back but can't find it, I'll take a couple pics later).

I don't play it much, but I do play thru it from time to time.
