I've seen plenty of blasphemy like that in my time.

You should've seen my old 5F6-A......"camouflaged" with fluorescent lime-green and day-glo orange spray paint. Tweed, grill cloth, panel, knobs, the whole load. No way in the world to unfuck that mess. I was lucky to get $120 in trade for it when I stepped up to a near-pristine '64 Concert amp back in the mid '60s.

What a wreck it was!

Trust me, I didn't. Back then, that's all they were worth. It wasn't a bad sounding amp though. One of the speakers had a small tear in the cone right near the surround -- my Dad fixed it with a dollop of silicone RTV caulk -- and my mom had to repair the leather handle, but other than that it was "all there". Just that gawd-awful psychedelic/psychopathic paint job! It and a hundred bucks got me the one-year old blackface Concert amp. Not quite the coveted Super Reverb of every high-school punk's wetdream. But "close enough for rock and roll".

I remember a "pile" of tweed amps in the practice house of my uncle's band in the early late '50s/'60s...I was too young to know anything about them and when I started trying to play later I was given a pristine Champ,I honestly can't remember the year model but sadly it vanished in the mid '70s.
That bunch of tweeds were played into disrepair, and I know of at least one very early Deluxe chassis that is still around from those days but I can't talk my friend out of it,and to see it to examine the damage and possiblilty of rebuilding it is all in vain...picture a guy who looks like a mountain man outlaw biker, living in Fred Sanford's house and you will understand.
He still plans to rebuild it and has since around 1962 or so.

I know, this guy's house is filled with so much stuff that you think it's all junk, but if you could dig through it there's no telling what you would find....he's never going to do anything with all this stuff, and now that he's approaching 70 years old it's going to be somebody elses someday....back in the day though,he and my uncle, they were 10 years older, they had some cool bands and were doing the blues thing way before the Brits thought they "discovered" American blues.....some of us know the truth though and were there...right guys?
Not everybody gets famous.
