We're already seeing the retail prices of silverfaces approach the stratosphere (especially with the PR's and DR's) now that the word is out.

Yeah.... sucks for me. I want a PR or DR and the prices for the DR is easily over $1200.

There are SF Twins on CL daily for $650-$800. Just too much amp for me to use around the house.

But if you defer until next year, the silverface DR will be close to two large.

Exactly, gone are the days of the good deals on SF amps...on the other hand I've seen Super Reverbs going for decent prices, but it's the deluxes and vibroluxes, and princetons that you need to grab soon.

Indeed!

Even the Champs and Vibro Champs are climbing above five bills now.

I'm notifying the grill-cloth police at this very moment.

That's just flat-out wrong!

I believe that's the silver-orange sparkle type of grill clothing which characterizes many of the late 1970s silverface amps.

No it's not.

It's aged blackface cloth.

If it were the rust/orange type, those stripes within the weave would be running VERTICAL!

Just as the earlier silver/white/turquoise metallic did.

You know......the cloth that Chuck Berry prefers on the amps he borrows for his "exhibitions".

Then the grille cloth is not original, someone replaced the original silver-orange sparkle cloth with the tan grilles used on the '63 Reverb amp.

What part of this didn't you understand......?

"Arjay, Yeah that SF shown came outta a busted case. All particle board by that era & once they start to go crumbly bad.... well you know the story. Got this JD Newell cab off Ebay with the wheat grille. And it looks pretty nice."

I'm sure we'd all like to see your silverface amp(s), chromefake.

If indeed you have any.

You make me laughing with the "chrome fake" prefix, mate! :P

I'm a huge silverface fan since I was a child and I always wanted to have one, even they are really big bad boys.

But these amps skyrocket a bit and it's almost impossible to find an used SF Twin Reverb in an affordable price (though silverfaces gained a burst of popularity with Greek musicians despite their cons, IMO!) 8)

If luck smiles and finally find a silverface amp, I promise you to post some cool pix. :)

I'll be shocked if you ever post a pic of any Fender product you actually own.

(besides your collection of Frontline catalogs)

"Luck"?

I make my own luck, chromefake.

I have to agree chromeface,I've seen you post hundreds of pics here and I don't remember any one of them being something you actually own yourself.
We actually own vintage amps and post our own pics, not copyrighted pics that someone else has.
Why don't you put up a pic of your gear with a note attached,"Hi Fender Forum Members"....then we will know you took the picture,if not quit wasting our time with pics we can pull up on the internet ourselves if we want to.

Nevah hoppen, Reb.

Chromefake sold all his gear to Chuck Berry.

Arjay,

At first I was confused. I thought you were being uncharacteristicly mean spirited but then I searched his previous posts. I only went through the first 13 pages but you are quite right. Every pic but one that I saw definitely appears to be a direct download and not a personal pic. I know a guy who does something similar. He does own some guitars and a couple of amps but he doesn't play more than once or twice a year and then only at a beginner level. He can sure talk though. If a person without much guitar knowledge didn't know him they might believe he actually knows what he's talking about. I also used to see it a lot back in the 70's and 80's as well but in the world of muscle car hop ups. My father owned a garage that was basically the local speed shop in our little town because there was no actual speed shop and these guys would come in and want to hang out. Man, some of the crap they'd say .....

Indeed.

However, this "gentleman" is a thread thief. And aside from hijacking threads to provide an avenue for his errant posting of (usually) non-germane photos, he's quite fond of positing totally inaccurate data that likely would dupe or mislead someone in true need of the facts -- whether hypothetical, historical, or technical. One needs "big fins" to swim in the deep-end of the vintage amp "pool" but he's shown only the substance of a minnow, I'm afraid......
