Hell everyone. I'm new to the forum but I'm looking for some serious help.

I traded a small lunchbox tube amp to a beautiful 75 + (I identified it by the master volume push pull/ mid control on normal channel) Fender Super Reverb

The amp powers on and the channel one produces a beautiful loud clean sound

the pots are iffy though and really alter the volume via the treb/mid/and bass

channel 2 is at half volume (not the usualy 6db drop) and the trem/verb no longer function

I want to restore this amp and possible sell it but I need to know what is actually wrong with it from some pros

I read that retubing it would make the channels volume function properly at least

thanks for your time and please help me out if you can!

A new set of tubes may restore the functions of the vibrato channel but there may be other issues at play. You'll need to determine both the vintage and the circuit type to correctly perform any relevant servicing procedures.

If the chassis does not have a 5U4GB rectifier tube (would've been marked as "V9" on the tube chart) yours is a 70-watt "ultra-linear" amp. These aren't really Super Reverbs in the traditional sense.

Use the data found on this site and your serial number to determine when the amp was made......

I'd go with a mix of JJ's and Tung-Sol re-issues for the pre-amp and a pair of Electro-Harmonix 6L6GC's for the output stage. If the amp uses a tube rectifier, you can still find good NOS 5U4GBs for reasonable money. About $125 to $130 ought to do it.

Ebay is a good source for pre-packaged tube sets. You may not be happy with the choice of brands though.
