I would change V3 & V4. these are the ones looking at it from the back.the third and forth from the right. More then likely its a tube problem

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply. Finally got a chance to get some new tubes and put them in the DRII. After putting in the new tubes reverb was still weak and I'm thinking there is something major wrong. I decide to put the reverb cables back to their orginal position, Red to out put gray to input and low an behold it works great. Joncarr I know this goes against what you told me and the information I found elsewhere on the net. So I start looking for pictures of Rivera amps to see how the reverb is connected, some have red on input, some have red on output :? Call a friend of mine who supposedly knows a lot about Fender amps, he says early 80's was a confusing time for fender and although the red should go to the input, depending on the day and the worker they might have switched the cables at the reverb tank. He said this caused him problems more than once when working on other peoples amps.
Just a note for anybody who might come across a similar situatrion. On my DRII the gray is the input and red is the output.
Thanks for all the help guys.
filerj :D
PS Arjay if you read this, have you ever come across a similar situation? I know you're into vintage amps, don't know if you ever dealt with the Rivera era amps.

No personal experience with the Rivera's -- sorry.

Red on the input or red in the ouput ? if the amp reverb work better with any color any place it does not mater.

Do you ask that because you are afraid to try reversing wire ( color ) ? No danger for the amp or for you.

Stratele52, Not afraid, just wasn't sure which was correct. Originally it was red on the output but when the reverb started to fade I went looking for the problem and all the sites I found said red should be the input. ( On my twin red is the input.) After putting in new tubes and reverb still not working I switched the cables the way they originally were, gray on the input, and everyting worked fine. :D . It seems only the Rivera era Fenders have this cable mixup and it's not on all of them.
Thanks for the reply,
filerj
PS. Your english isn't bad I know americans that don't write it as well as you.

If you reverse the color on reverb spring unit, the color would be "standard" at the back of the amp.

Yes, but how hard is it to change the cables at the tank? It's just plug in at the back of the amp.I can live with knowing that the cables are reversed. As long as it works I'm happy :D
Thanks.

RCA plugs on the reverb tank like those on back of your amp + 2 screws to remove the bag from the bottom of your amp

Thanks Stratele52,
I never looked inside the bag I was just assuming they were soldered connections. If it's that easy when I get chance I'll reverse the tank and set everything up the way it's supposed to be.

Yes it is very easy , they are plug in. It is so easy that somebody could made a mistaque and reverse wires in the rush of building amp , CBS area. Or if you buy the amp used .........
