I have two Blackface DRs and a '67 Silverface DR....they sound great and you can crank them and get some overdrive going without them being way too loud....a great giggin' amp if you have a drummer that can hold it down some, but you can always mic them also.
I have Weber speakers in mine, they are my favorite speakers...and worth every penny to me.
congratulations on a great amp......yep we need some pics....we love amp porn here. :D

+1 Especially Clean Vintage Amp Porn  And CONGRATS on a great find.

By the way didn't Cedar Blues put a 15 inch speaker into his Spankmaster? Might be an option for you to get something a little different.

IMO, just like the RIs the JJ sound like crap :P Seriously, the JJ ruin that sweet DR tone, but if it's what you like I'll be happy to take those RCAs off your hand :)

If it's a clean and loud you want then you should consider a more efficient speaker with less breakup, you'd be surprised at the difference it makes.

The only working man's tubes are the RCAs IMO, the sweetest tone you can ask for and probably the most reliable tubes. My JJ 6V6s started rattling after a couple days and they changed the tone too much, didn't sound like no DR anymore...

I've been testing some TAD 6V6 for the past 2 months and so far so good, the tone is the closest to the RCAs I heard. These might be the best new production tubes out there.

Agreed. Nothing's worse than trying to play a guitar with heatstroke. I'd recommend a nice jazzy hat to keep the sun off your neck.

Well ive heard mixed reviews on these...ive played some at my techs shop...6l6 and they were real harsh...i can get them right around the corner...i will try the J.J and Tads 2maro...and set the bias...also i might get my tech to put a SS cap to make it more reliable and more headroom...it was 103 out today...please let it cool off a bit before the 4th...lol

First off let me say *Cool Boonie hat Arjay*,it's also my cover of choice,in assorted patterns. :D
Now,good looking SFDR,Lil' Ray!...sometime if your tech has the chassis pulled out I would be interested in seeing the components inside.
As far as new production 6V6 tubes go,I've just been reading the mixed reviews here and elsewhere,I had bought some of the new Tung-Sol 6V6s,but one of the forum members has been trying them with an amp and he's been having lots of trouble with them red plating,so I'm not putting those in any amp I own...the JJs and TADs were going to be something I would try...I have a stash of NOS RCAs and others but they won't last forever, but they could be here when I'm gone,it depends.
I have tried the new Tung-Sol and Mullard brand 12AX7 tubes with good results,I favor the T-S over the Mullards...so far.
Stay as cool as possible tomorrow Ray,while playing some hot licks.
