Just to confuse the OP more, I find that this CRC 5101 works the best on potentiometers (guitars and amps), switches, and any other contact areas which have graphite contacts. Caig D5 Deoxit works fine, too. But, the CRC 5101 seems to leave less residue which MAY dissolve the graphite, in the long run.

So, I have like Deoxit D5 (about 10 year old can), Deoxit D5 Gold, and one CRC 5101QD.

Of course the cleaner from RS leaves the pots dry, so I use this on top:

I bought many guitars where the original pots were deemed scratchy and this has done the trick every time, they worked like new again.
