Ok, I may pick one of these in a trade just cause it's cheap and is basically a Twin with 4 inputs. I am particularly interested in the reverb which supposedly sounds really good. I would want to make some kind of reverb unit out of it and bypass the amplification circuit completely and plug that reverb unit into my bandmaster. To the amp masters, has this ever been done or is it just me becoming more insane?

Yes

There is no funtional difference between the reverb in a PA100 head and that of a standard reverb combo amp. Two-tube operation, single "blend" control, 4-spring medium-delay tank. For the ultimate in sonic shaping, get yourself a 6G15. This stand-alone device creates no insertion loss, and offers "mix", "delay", and "tone" controls. And unlike the 45-lb PA100 boat anchor, the 6G15 weighs in at around ten. I've see the re-issues available on the bay for $450, sometimes even less.

Yes, I have been looking for one of those 63 reissues or even better the original but they break the bank. Was wondering if I could do anything with a PA100 that would be better than the pedal I currently have.

I love those things! I used to jam with this group Ghosttown Electric, and the bassist let me borrow for some shows. It has the coolest reverb I've had the pleasure of using, and I'm a reverb nut. The thing is also bi-ampable, and you could do a really cool stereo set up with it. If I were you, I'd jump on the chance to get it, but I'd say don't gut it, or mod it. You could use it as a slave or master amp.

How would I go by plugin it to my amp for use with reverb only?

If you insist on pursuing this folly, you will have to mod one or both of these pieces in order to integrate them with any degree of utility. You can buy a decent reverb pedal for far less than what this "project" will cost.

Knock yourself out though.

I'm with Arjay...if it's reverb you want that's not a good way to get it,I know you're probably getting it cheap, but it ain't easy.
I would get a stand alone unit.

Well I have a Mr Springgy pedal and while that is a great unit my I am longing for the tube reverb sound but dont want to spend $500 and up. Anyway, was just a silly idea since I dont really have a use for the PA100. I know there are plenty of schematics out there to turn that thing into a Twin so I got to thinking if there was any other mods for it.

I think that's the wiser choice.

IIRC, Cedarblues was investigating a reverb stompbox that did a pretty fair simulation of Fender's tube reverb tank. The company's website had several audio clips posted that I listened to and it sounded mighty damn convincing. I think it retails for a couple of hundred $$$ or so. Reasonable for what it does, IMO. Perhaps cedarblues will weigh in and post the link to the site.

Yea, probably the Vanamps pedals, best pedals around for reverb. I got the next best thing.
