I'm looking for a late '65 or early '66 power transformer for a princeton reverb (or vibro champ). I have no idea what it would be worth but if you have one you're willing to part with let me know. We'll work something out.

Here is a complete part-number listing for all vintage Fender trannies, from the tweed era all the way up to the modern stuff......

https://taweber.powweb.com/store/xfmrcr.htm

There are several possibilities for a '66 Princeton Reverb: either a power tranny serialed with an FEIC number (125-XXX) or an FMI number (220XXX). As well, that year Fender began second-sourcing its supply of iron to Better Coil & Transformer while continuing to use Woodward-Schumacher. An original PR PT from Shumacher will be stamped with the EIA code "606-XXX" below the Fender ID number. A BC&T tranny will be marked "831-XXXX".

If you cannot locate an original part, suitable replacements are offered by Mercury Magnetics, Heyboer, and Hammond.

Best of luck, HTH

Arjay

I'm actually wanting to replace a replacement mojo PT with an original. Not something I would normally do but I have a '66 PR in borderline excellent condition and the only non-original parts are the PT and a 3-prong plug. So I figured why not put an original PT in if I can find one at an affordable price.

Looks like champ, vibro champ, princeton, and princeton reverb all used the same part number for the PT back in the day. Thanks for the link.

Keep an eye on Ebay -- vintage trannies frequently pop up there.

Let us know how the search goes.

But be very careful with the purchase, you could end up buying a trashed tranny

Ain't that the truth.

If someone did grease my head I guess I could still attach the covers to my mojo replacement and at least look 100% vintage from the outside. :)

If you happen to find a period-correct tranny that's blown, Mercury Magnetics can re-wind it. This service is pricey but if matching chassis numbers are imperative, it's a viable option.

Arjay beat me to the punch regarding the Mercury transformer build.Recently Vintage Guitar Magazine had a 3 part series on a tranny rebuild by Mercury for a vintage Vox amp and I was extremely impressed by the pains they took in dismantling the old tranny and putting all the plates etc. back in exact order. They would be by far the best bet for a transformer rebuild.
