Hi

The tech of the TAD himself recommended these little bottle 6L6WGC for my 135W SF UL
Twin Reverbs. I tried them and they are great.
I have the export variant of the TWIN Reverb (1980) and I use the 240V tap of the
mains for the 230 V here in Germany. So the B+ is roundabout 480V. Should be no
Problem for the TAD 6L6WGC. Also 500 V B+ should be no Problem.

Attention:
The ultralinear typs have to be BIASed lower between 20 and 30 mA. This is enough
for this kind of Power stage. Do not BIAS them more than 30 mA. This will shorten the
live of the tubes immense. You can see that in the TAD spec of the BIAS- Master tool.
There it is explicit recommended. 30 mA is the absolute maximum rating in case of
Ultralinear power stages. I BIASed them around 22mA and the Amp sounds great.
(I changed the PI to blackface spec.)

So, ran into this thread and it's been almost a year since some of you tried out the TAD 6V6 in your amps...

Wondering how you like them?

Was looking at those and the JJ's myself and wondering which to go with.

I'm still running the TADs in one of my DRs... they're the only pair I use that are not RCAs and I love the way they sound! Whether they're in a DR or DRRI, great sounding tubes.

Never cared for the JJ 6V6, didn't like what they do to the DR tone. But their 6L6 and EL84 are nice tubes.

Yes, the JJ 6V6 sounds closer to a 6L6 than it does 6V6, kind of in-between the two. Nice tube if you want to replace a 6L6 with a 6V6, but not the same sound as a typical 6V6.

All I have tried are the 6L6WGC and a couple of GZ34's for DRRI's with the cheapo ruby rectifier in it.

The 6L6's were in a TRRI that is long gone, it sounded great the few months I owned it before ridding myself of all combos and moving towards head and cabinet set ups.

The Tad stuff does indeed hold up well.
