How does the clean tone of the Music Master Amp compare to that of the Princeton and Champs of the same era? I'm thinking about getting one, to go along with the Champ that I already have.

The Musicmaster Bass Amp features only a single tone control which limits its sonic versatility to an extent. The output-stage architecture differs from the Champ/Vibrochamp/Bronco in that it uses a 1:1 center-tapped tranny to perform the phase inverter function. That said, you can extract some nice vintage bluesy tones from them much like the old Valcos, Supros, and Ampegs. The amp deserves and will greatly benefit from a better speaker.

Try to find one that uses the 6V6GT's in the output stage. The early models used a pair of 6BQ5's which don't really sound all that "Fender-y", at least to my ear.
